The Department of Archeology and Art History at Muğla University was first established in 1993 within the scope of the Faculty of Letters and Sciences of our University to include the Classical Archeology and Art History Departments. In 2002, the Department of Art History continued its existence as a separate department within the Faculty of Letters. Our Department was activated in 2012. A total of 4 faculty members, including 1 Professor, 2 Associate Professor and 1 Doctoral Faculty Members, are actively working in our department. As of the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year, the Undergraduate Program was opened and it gave its first graduates as of 2017-2018. Then, with the fulfillment of the necessary conditions, our Master's Program in the Department of Art History was opened as of the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. There are four departments in our department, namely Turkish-Islamic Art Department, Byzantine Art Department, Western Art and Contemporary Art Department, and General Art History Department.
